On the occasion of our centennial this year, we received the Madrid regional minister for economy, employment and revenue Hon. Engracia Hidalgo. During her visit, the minster highlighted the significance of our line of work in terms of development of the Spanish Brand as well as for the continuation of handicrafting as a trade and a way of life.
Ms. Hidalgo said: “This family´s one century old activity should not only make Felipe and his daughter and son proud; all of us in Madrid should take pride in the fact that our region is full of creative individuals capable of transforming a trade into an art form.” She made mention of the well known artists that were also our clients over the years such as, Leonard Cohen, Paco de Lucía or Bob Dylan. Additionally, she stressed the importance of workshops like ours in the promotion of Spanish products abroad, given the fact that we export more than 90% of all our guitars.
“We should better support the handcrafting industry, help it excel, innovate and maintain its roots within our culture and also collaborate in order to conquer new markets and further strengthen the Spanish Brand”. Ms. Hidalgo points out. She also signaled that handcrafting, with more than 4000 different companies, generates approximately 7% of the regional industrial BDP.
From all of us at the workshop we would like to thank Ms. Hidalgo for her visit and her good word. In this video you can see how the visit went:
